Scanned and image-based files are run through OCR in the background, so their text becomes searchable without any manual retyping. Documents can also be tagged, by hand or automatically based on rules you define, to group related files across folders.
Without OCR, a scanned document is just an image, unsearchable by its content. And without tagging, related files scattered across different folders, a client's contract, correspondence and invoices, have no way to be pulled together as a set.
